Rachel Roy Apache Print Dress

One of my favorite young designers is Rachel Roy-not Rachel Ray- a California-born designer who got her start at 14 working at Contempo Fashions. From her Fall 08 collection this dress stands out as my favorite.  It's pure silk, with a brown abstract print.  This sleeveless dress has accordion pleats all-around, a ruffled stand-collar, and illusion neckline.  It's feminine, but not fussy.  Perfect for a fancy evening on the town. This lovely garment will set you back a mere $1,495!  But you'll be the toast of the town!

Hot and Sexy Black Bootie by Christian Louboutin

These booties are HOT! These super-cute Christian Louboutin Hidden Paltform Booties are made with black nappa leather, the tonal button detail along the gusset give these shoes a playful elegance.  The cresent toe and hidden platform make them comfortable yet sexy with the signature red sole. Christian Louboutin has some of the funnest and trendiest shoes around, and these are no exception.   But get ready to break the bank, these beauties are a whopping $825!

Issey Miyake, Reflections in a Drop

This fall indulge in a fragrance that will  drive your man crazy, in a good way, that is. The new fragrance by Issey Miyake, Reflections in a Drop, is "reminiscent of the instant a droplet of water falls from a flower's petal to encapsulate a fleeting moment of pure nature.  The top note, an original green accord, mingles with the delicious freshness of mandarin orange zest to add sparkle to the aquatic floral theme as it gently blends with the pastel woody trail." This limited edition fragrance is sexy and earthy, without being over-powering.  This complex scent is composed of reflections in millions of dew drops, freshness of lotus, mimose, accords of warm wood, aquatic accords, and a hint of musk.  It's perfect for wearing to the office, and works just as well for an evening of fun for just the two of you.

Now available, the Sarah Palin wig

If you wan to acheive the sexy Sarah Palin up-do but don't have the time for teasing, and back-combing, not to mention all the Aqua-Net a style like that requires, fear no more.  There's a wig shop in Brookly that will sell you a wig, made of 100% human hair (sorry, the hair is not from the governor's head), styled in the likeness of the famous hockey mom.  The wigs retail for about $795 (who knew wigs were so pricey?), that's marked down from $895.  The funny thing is, the shop where the wigs are being sold is an ultra-Orthodox establishment.  But the owners say they are not pandering to customer's political leanings.  They were just inspired by the GOP candidate's style. "We believe that good fashion taste trumps all politics." And who are we to argue?

...And the Emmy for worst dressed goes to

The winners are Phoebe Price (whoever you are) sporting a red lace night gown and a red garter on her head, Glenn Close, looks like she raided Elvira's closet, and what can we say about Cahterine Keener except that she looks just sad in this black tuxedo.

J.Lo will be a no-show at Project Runway finale

If you were hoping to see J. Lo on Project Runway, you'll be sorely disappointed.  Jennifer Lopez pulled out from the show, where she was scheduled to be the guest celebrity judge for the finale episode.  According to her people, Lopez dropped out of the show after injuring her foot while training for a triathlon. This sounds like a very serious injury if she can't even sit on her butt and blab about fashion. Will she be able to compete in the triathlon? Well, according to reports, she did just fine in the competition in Malibu.  So well, that right after the race, she threw a surprise birthday party for husband Skeletor Anthony.  That's one quick recovery! There's rumors that J.Lo pulled out due to bad blood between her and the Weinstein Production Company, the same people who produce Project Runway.  Apparently, J.Lo thought she'd be getting a part in one of their projects, but was later told no, so she dropped out of the Runway gig. That's really grown-up and classy, Jenny from the block!

Michelle vs Cindy, who's got the better fashion sense

If you had to pick the First Lady based on style, who would you pick? The role of First Lady is an important one. The First Lady is the representation of the president's personal life, she is also a representative of the country's feminine identity. In the beginning First Ladies were but a footnote in their powerful husbands biographies, but in recent times the first ladies have proven to be an important component of the president's public image. And because women must be judged on their outer appearance before anything else, the fashion styles of these famous wives is given a great deal of stock. You can judge a book by it's cover is the attitude. So how do Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain measure up to their predecessors? Michelle Obama has the stamp of a future Jackie O written all over her everything. She is a classically beautiful woman who has a keen sense of style. This woman exudes confidence with her classy time-less style. She is not flashy or trendy, or ostentatious, and she's not dowdy or stiff. This woman knows she's beautiful but doesn't throw it in your face. Classic and intelligent, even if Obama is not elected into office, which we doubt, Michelle has made her stamp as a modern, beautiful woman who's intelligence is reflected in her style. Cindy McCain, or as I like to call her, Geriatric Ice Princess, is a train wreck! This woman embodies everything wrong with American fashion and beauty standards. She's crusty and stiff, and embodies the image of Rich Bitch. This woman's nose is so high up in the air you'd think she was nothing but nostrils. Oh if only. This lady frightens me a little bit. My friend put it best when he compared Cindy McCain to the Femme-bots in the first Austin Power's movie. You know, the statuesque, lingerie-wearing robots with guns for boobs. Cindy McCain's style screams Stepford Wife in the White House, a role that Nancy Reagan perfected. Cindy McCain's style is out of touch with the real American woman, or any woman for that matter. Our winner: Michelle Obama. We say: Michelle Obama for First Lady!

Fall fashion trends: purple, plaid, tweed, and lace

Fall Fashions have arrived and it's a lot of the same-old, same-old we've been seeing the last couple of years, with a few exceptions.  This season is all about textures.  Check out this site for all the fashion shows this fall, from Milan to London to New York City.  Here are some highlights from this season's runways. Purple- the new black for the season- is showing up every where on the runways.  Once the preferred color of frumpy high school English teachers, now purple is all the rage. Plaids- isn't it still too soon to bring back the 90s?  Apparently not, Marc Jacobs is going grunge this season with some plaid pieces that look like they came from the Goodwill.  Charlotte Ronson's plaid mini-dress is a better interpretation of the grunge-inspired look. Tweeds- my favorite fall textile is brought up to-date by Chanel, and beautifully done by Ralph Lauren as well.  This versatile material can be paired with any of the afore-mentioned trends. Lace- a romantic classic making a come-back this fall.  Luisa Beccaria and Chanel offered the more classier looks in lace: evening dresses and lace ensembles in earthy tones were the winners.
