As part of sci-fi July this year, I decided to read Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Blood and Bone, a book I've meant to read for a long time. After finishing it, I'm left with all the feels, wallowing, wondering what happens next and so ANGRY with one character in particular that I could scream at him.

Summer poems are not my favorites, I must confess. Fall poems make my heart happy, and winter poems do after that. I even love spring poems! But summer, alas, is not my season. My SAD occurs this season, which isn't as common as it is for winter sufferers, but it sure has a lot to do with me not enjoying it.
Do you make your own purses, pouches, backpacks and more? I lug around so many books, planners, journals and other bulky items that I can pretty much only use a heavy duty backpack. I currently use one from Geek Gear (a site I miss!) that's made out of pleather. But sometimes you just need a little pouch to store an item or two.
Target's Halloween selection was so on point last year, but it quickly ran out, leaving the duds of the collection behind when we finally managed to go check out their Hide and EEK Boutique. My husband and I tend to disagree about some humor, which is likely because he is a cis white man and I am a pan white woman. We see Family Guy rather differently. We're both pretty privileged but while I'm contemptuous of jokes that make fun of people based on race, gender, sexuality, ability, etc. he is okay with some of them. Over the years, he's improved, but we still tend to disagree about what makes a hit or a flop.

They are a tragic side effect of our busy, hectic lives, and like many kids, Denton was tired of hearing people just complain about the issue without offering a real solution to it.
If I only had a nickel for every jerk who told me I only wanted Elizabeth Warren as my president because she's a woman. It's deeply rooted in misogyny, to tell someone this, especially when their candidate is simply better than yours. More moderate? Perhaps, in some ways, but Warren has made the most positive change in this nation among all of the Democratic candidates. She gets. Things. Done. And are we really surprised?
Halloween is coming! I know because the Spirit shop is setting up shop in town! I also know because everyone from Big Lots to Grandin Roads has their stuff on sale already, and while some of it is a bit of a dud, some is really fun.
There are actual people who believe it's not "the government's job" to keep us safe or healthy, but only to make and enforce laws. That's it! At least half, if not more, of the people where I live also say that wearing a mask is "living in fear," that Covid is a "Democrat hoax" (how the rest of the WORLD and the hospitals are pulling that off, I don't know), and that we need to just open up everything, everywhere, consequences be damned.
