Fashion Trends for Spring 2010

Add Comment

Fashion and music will always walk hand in hand down the runway and through our lives. To be seperated from either for very long, is to become out of touch with the glory of what it means to be human. Our capacity to create and express ourselves is unmatched by any other creature on the planet. The worlds of art, theater, literature, poetry, music, and social, political, emotional, and environmental concerns all collide in the mind of a designer, season after season. It is the clothing we wear and how we wear it that make these ideas more personal to us and therefore, while fashion may seem a silly extravagance to some... it is in fact, the mark of awakened human consciousness and the acknowledgment of our love and mastery, as creators. Most importantly, fashion is fun and after looking into what to expect for Spring 2010, I am excited by the 'new music' the designers have in store for us.

The Kick-Ass Artistry of Hair Wars

Beautiful!Beautiful!I've never been to a hair show in my life, but if I did, I would definitely check out Hair Wars Detroit.  The genius concept of Hair Wars Detroit was the brain-child of a Detroit DJ known in Detroit circles as "Hump the Grinder", which is just about the best name for a DJ that I've ever heard. It started off as a way for local hair stylists to show off their hair-style creations and evolved into something bigger.

The Incredible Looks of Carla Bruni

Carla Bruni Looking Hot with Her GuitarCarla Bruni Looking Hot with Her GuitarMichelle Obama may definitely have it going on when it comes to fashion, but Carla Bruni, aka Mrs. Sarkosky, is no slouch in eyes of the world when it comes to looking your best. In addition to her fashion career, the former fashion model has had a successful music career- I haven't heard her, so I can't vouch how much of her success was based on her top-notch looks.

This picture is a personal favorite of mine because I think it's always important for a musician's guitar to match her boots.

She is also rumored to have signed a contract to be in a Woody Allen film. The rumor is unconfirmed as of yet, so don't get too excited, but it definitely does add to her mystique.

We Love Michelle!

Fencing, anyone?Fencing, anyone? While a vocal miniscule percentage of the population shouts racist slogans and complains that we as a nation might actually have some health care in the near future, a larger percentage of the population seems entranced by Michelle Obama. Our love affair with Barack may be coming to a close, but we can't seem to get enough of Michelle and her fashion.

Maria Sharapova and her New Endorsement

Maria Sharapova EarringsMaria Sharapova EarringsOK, for the latest in fashion, you can now turn to the female tennis stars.

As if having the "best-looking" tennis stars center court at Wimbledon for a more high-profile view for the males in the television audience wasn't enough, one tennis star is continuing the trend of ridiculous fashion endorsements.

All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go-5 Fashion Statements

There's nothing quite like the feeling of getting all dressed up for a night out on the town. Perfect make-up, perfect hair, and weird-assed costumes all make it worthwhile. Check out these 5 lovely ladies and their quest for gold.

Look at Me!Look at Me!Nothing quite says hello like a bleached blonde with an 80's 'do dressed in gold. This is honestly the stuff that miracles are made of. Please note the medal- that means she is a champion, but of what, I am not sure.

MEN: this fad has gone FAR ENOUGH.

MEN: Just say NO to SKINNY JEANS: We get it - You have long, stripper worthy gams - but ... no.MEN: Just say NO to SKINNY JEANS: We get it - You have long, stripper worthy gams - but ... no.

If I see one more quasi-anorexic hipster boy walking around with a muffin top hidden under a pit stained wifebeater - I am going to scream!

When did everything go so wrong guys? Do you think it impresses your girlfriend that you both can wear the same pair of jeans? It doesn't - she wants to be the one with those gorgeous gams when you go out dancing! If its your boyfriend your trying to impress - chances are he wants you to keep those beefy, I-go-to-the-gym-everyday thighs in a nice pair of something he can fit his hand down when the stoli kicks in!

Also, medically speaking, it cant be healthy for all of your stuff to be smashed up against your leg all day! Give yourself some room to breathe!

I guess thats all. Oh wait...

Worst. Fad. Ever. Its just wrong. JUST SAY NO!

Okay, yeah, that's all.

Jewelry That Completes an Outfit AND Makes a Statement

Add Comment

If you’re tired of the usual jewelry that you wear everyday, it’s time to make a statement by trying something new. From that new necklace that you bought on a whim to your grandmother’s ring – try them all! (Though not necessarily at the same time.) You might find that simply wearing these pieces changes how you feel about yourself and how others perceive you. According to Vera Wang, “Jewelry allows women to express themselves in a way that clothing sometimes simply cannot.”

Try wearing a flashy brooch – but don’t think they have to worn one way. It’s quite stylish to wear the brooch just below your right (or left) collar bone. And don’t just stick with one. If you have a couple brooches, try arranging them in a cluster for a bigger impact. Or wear it near your waist to close a cardigan, to glam up a dress, or even in your hair tucked into an up-do! You’ll find that something as simple as an accessory can not only light up your appearance, it can brighten your whole outlook.

Tim Gunn, a mentor on Project Runway, states, “Fashion is having a jewelry moment – statement pieces are back in a big way.” So go for it!
